Through our research and observations, we were able to gain insights into what would be developmentally appropriate for students aged PreK through 2nd grade.
We will be able to use the knowledge we gained to guide us in our practice as administrators in the building. Conducting classroom observations are a great starting point for anyone unfamiliar with the elementary education realm. Continuing these observations, both in individual classrooms and throughout the building as a whole will allow us to keep grounded in what is occurring inside of the classrooms.
We will be able to utilize the information learned regarding child development while conducting observations to ensure that teachers and staff are teaching and interacting with students in a developmentally appropriate way. The research that we conducted on community and parental
programs that Wake County Public Schools will be useful to allow us a starting point for what partners are available and provide us a guide for what support areas a school may need to focus on. Hopefully, based on our knowledge gained around correct language and literacy development in young children we will be able to apply this when speaking to students in our school.
The research done for this project will impact us as administrators by giving us a frame of reference to help focus our practice.
